#30in30 2016, Day Twenty-Five: Handle With Care

You should come with a label that reads
"Handle with care."
Not because you are fragile,
but because you have had to be so strong
for so long,
no one could ever tell that you
are capable of breaking.
That you could fall to pieces at any time
and because we couldn't detect the signs
because you wear the weights you carry
so damn well.

You are not a trophy, though some insist
that you might be
some call you "Queen" without no understanding
of what it means or your regality.
You are a maelstrom, a storm on legs
not because you are a destructive force
but because you are a naturally occurring
assembly of the elements... and sometimes you react
and most people can't handle that.

Though you are sometimes called outspoken,
you don't always feel heard.
You have risen and fallen, yet your wings aren't broken;
and even if they were,
you would be the most beautifully flawed woman.
You should be handled with care
And yes, your power incites such a scare
but having been the safe harbor for others so often,
you, too, deserve comfort somewhere.
